Magazines, test paper and synthesis


  • Just a gentle reminder that if you are ordering the YS or NatGeo magazines online, you should be given extra discount.

Another Double IF for you to try!

Mr Lim sells green and red pens. If he sells 32 green pens per day and 16 red pens per day, he will have 144 green pens left when all the red pens are sold. If he sells 12 green pens per day and 24 red pens per day, he will have 432 green pens left when all the red pens are sold. How much money will Mr Lim collect from the sale of all  the red pens if each pen cost $1.20?

Misconceptions when solving 'Fractions of' questions

Hi pupils!
Some of you are having problems solving word problems involving 'what fraction of A is B' or 'express A as a fraction of B'.

I have attached a short video highlighting the misconception for revision purposes. I have already explained this in class several times.

Do look at it again if you are not too sure. You can pause the video at any time so that you can read it slowly to understand it better.

Can you solve this 'Double if' math question?

Alan and Bala has some money.
If Alan spends $45 each day and Bala spends $15 each day,  Alan will have $120 left by the time Bala spends all his money.
If Bala spends $45 each day and Alan spends $15 each day, Alan will have $840 by the time Bala spends all his money.
How much money does Alan have?

  • I would appreciate it if you could bring down the CNY decorations by this week. Kudos to all of you for making our class one of the top 3 classes for this year's competition.
