  1. Gritting my teeth in anger, I stomped away from my sister.
  2. My sister and I escaped unscathed from the burning house.
  3. Shrieks of terror echoed the air when the chainsaw wielding murderer appeared.
  4. My parents shook their heads in dismay when as they watched me being handcuffed by the police.
  5. Tears rolled down my eyes like a spoiled faucet when I was scolded by my teacher.
  6. After the bomb blast at the mall, the shoppers ran helter-skelter.
  7. My realisation had hit me like a twenty pound hammer when I found out that Jeb was part of the evil scientists.
  8. The tourists were busy clicking their cameras away at the newly opened River Safari exhibits.
  9. Panting and gasping for air, I sat down after a tiring 1.6 kilometre run.
  10. A distraught-looking lady came to me and asked me if I had seen her son.

Creative Phrases T2W5 (from the girls)


  1. My eyes gleamed with excitement as I lined up for the famous roller coaster ride.
  2. My brother smiled sheepishly when his teacher praised him for his good work.
  3. As frightened as a grasshopper, I ran away from the haunted house at jet-liner speed.
  4. I was having a whale of a time at the new amusement park.
  5. Cowering in a corner, I covered my face with my hands and started to cry.
  6. When I saw the dead cat, I felt a sudden lurch in my stomach.
  7. Cursing and swearing under his breath, John left the shop in a fit of anger.
  8. I gave a grin that stretched from ear to ear because I had scored well in my examinations.
  9. A deafening cry penetrated the surrounding, breaking the silence of the night.
  10. My pupils dilated with horror when I saw the body of my friend on the floor.

  • LRD (22 Apr 2014) page 4 is due tomorrow. Suggestion: Write out your 50-word (2 or them) responses on a piece of paper (small enough to be pasted in your Spelling book).
  • LRD (22 Apr 2014) page 2 (littering poster) is due by next Monday 28 April. However, this task is optional. If your are sending to stdot, remember to send a cc (carbon copy) to me.

  1. Do  write-ups of your Picture Discussion and Conversations for LC Practice 3 and 4. Do them on foolscap paper.
  2. Practise your reading using the Practice 1 to 4 Reading Passages in the LC Book. Practice makes perfect.

LRD, Spelling and Cyberwellness Pledge


  • Do a write-up of at least 50 words (minimum 3 reasons) for the LRD activity on page 4. Cut the activity out and paste it in your Spelling book.
  • There will be spelling for Unit 6 words/phrases. Revise the list.
  • Check out the Cyberwellnes Pledge page above for the details of your task. The task is due by 19 May but preferably, try to finish it by 12 May. Points are up for grabs as well as attractive prizes from the organisers.
